Mike's Horn

Mike's been practicing really hard this year. He even took private coaching lessons again with Larry Lowe this summer. His hard work has paid off, because this year, he's been principal horn in the Utah Valley Symphony!

Last of the Flowers...

Time for the final garden clean-up. This is the hardest thing for me to do--I know it's going to freeze soon, and then the flowers and herbs will all wilt. I want to do the yard clean-up now while it's still warm enough to move my fingers, but it's so sad to have to cut down these still actively-blooming flowers. My solution: cut as many as possible, share with friends, and fill the house!

Halloween!

The kids were so cute last night. Jonathan, Jen, AND Jer have all been reading (and LOVING) the Percy Jackson books this year. Jonathan volunteered to make coordinated costumes to pay tribute. He designed and made the tees and the neck-beads. He also made Anaklusmos (Riptide), and Jer created Tyson's awesome shield! Introducing: Tyson (Jer), Annabeth (Jen), Thalia (Jessie), and Percy (Jonathan). LOVE it!

Mike's Learning to Fly!

Mike took his introductory flight at the Provo Airport on January 9th, 2010.

He started lessons with UVU's Aviation Science Department at the airport in August. Here he is with his CFI (certified flight instructor), Garrick Hanson:

Mike has had so much fun flying, we even celebrated his birthday (in September) at the airport. My dad, his dad, his Uncle Paul, his sister Angie and her family, and our kids all came to celebrate at his "456 Months! party".

Mike completed his solo flight on September 29th, and his 1st cross-country flight was on October 29th. Look at his face--now there is a sense of accomplishment. He's doing it!!

Jen's Fall Field Trip

Today, I got to go with Jen's class on their fall field trip to Hee-Haw's. It was so much fun! (I also had an opportunity to get some fun photos of her with her friends!)

Lake Powell!

September 9-13: Cannon family trip to Lake Powell. Grandpa rented an amazing houseboat, and we spent 5 days on the lake with him, our fam, and the Henches. We had SOOOO much fun! It was definitely a trip to remember.

All of us at Rainbow Bridge. We took the houseboat almost all the way, then hiked in from a little harbor there.

The big girls. Jen and her cousin spent their time dancing, practicing cheer moves, laying out in the sun, and swimming, of course!

Grandpa fished with the boys. Here he is with Jer and his cousin.

Care brought this fun raft...(and--not shown--oodles of yummy snacks and food!)

Mike and his large-mouth bass. He is our fishing enthusiast, and he spent a lot of hours with his rod & reel. Total count: 30 something! (Don't worry--we only kept a few...)

Jonny-boy. He LOVED playing in the water. When I asked him what he liked best about the trip, he said, "playing with cousins, the snacks, svimming, and the SNACKS!!"

Jess and Jer. We had some good, solid, quality time!

Jessie. Here she's checking out some stones Uncle Mike piled on an anchor...

Jen and Jonathan. Good times.

One of the cousins celebrated her birthday while we were on the boat. Her requested birthday activity was to tie-die shirts with everyone. Here are our finished projects. What perfect souvenirs!
