Jen's Fall Field Trip

Today, I got to go with Jen's class on their fall field trip to Hee-Haw's. It was so much fun! (I also had an opportunity to get some fun photos of her with her friends!)

Lake Powell!

September 9-13: Cannon family trip to Lake Powell. Grandpa rented an amazing houseboat, and we spent 5 days on the lake with him, our fam, and the Henches. We had SOOOO much fun! It was definitely a trip to remember.

All of us at Rainbow Bridge. We took the houseboat almost all the way, then hiked in from a little harbor there.

The big girls. Jen and her cousin spent their time dancing, practicing cheer moves, laying out in the sun, and swimming, of course!

Grandpa fished with the boys. Here he is with Jer and his cousin.

Care brought this fun raft...(and--not shown--oodles of yummy snacks and food!)

Mike and his large-mouth bass. He is our fishing enthusiast, and he spent a lot of hours with his rod & reel. Total count: 30 something! (Don't worry--we only kept a few...)

Jonny-boy. He LOVED playing in the water. When I asked him what he liked best about the trip, he said, "playing with cousins, the snacks, svimming, and the SNACKS!!"

Jess and Jer. We had some good, solid, quality time!

Jessie. Here she's checking out some stones Uncle Mike piled on an anchor...

Jen and Jonathan. Good times.

One of the cousins celebrated her birthday while we were on the boat. Her requested birthday activity was to tie-die shirts with everyone. Here are our finished projects. What perfect souvenirs!

1st Day of School, 2010-2011!

Time again for school! Jonathan started his first day of Junior High on August 24th. (His photo has been temporarily misplaced...as soon as it is located I'll post it. This was a big day!)

Jen (5th grade) and Jer (3rd grade) started on August 25th:

Jess began her second and final year of preschool on September 8th.

It's gonna be a great year!

Posing again...

Ummm.... ?

Jonathan with his Egyptian death mask. He made this at school last year. The 6th graders had a really cool Egyptian unit, and they all made these! We decided to photograph this before it made its way to the dress-up box...

End-of-Summer Garden Check-In...

I love our home. I really do. It's HOME!!
I also love playing in the garden here. This year, I did my annual flowers and most of my garden from seed. It was so fun...and satisfying, too!

Above: in my rose garden.
Below: this year's vegetable garden. We had lots of herbs, peas, tomatoes of several varieties, bell peppers, green onions, squash, rhubarb, carrots, rasberries, and marigolds for color!

In the backyard: all these annuals (except the petunias) were from seed. I LOVED the zinnias and the HUGE marigolds. Another special addition--the iris are from Mike's grandma's garden. The family home will not be there much longer, so for Christmas last year, Mike Burns pulled out the iris bulbs and shared them with the family. I now have them scattered through this whole patch under our kitchen window!

For Easter, Gram gave each of the kids a packet of seeds to add to the garden. Jen's were these wonderfully tall and beautiful sunflowers!

I must acknowledge the frequent help I received from our local princess. Thank you, Cinderella!

Happy Summer, All!
